The DAD4DADs project will use movement, music, poetry and drawing to explore what it is to be a father and to help unlock understanding and express feelings increasing the aspirations and confidence of the fathers as parents and men. It will embody a reflection not only of the strength and importance of a man in a modern system and family but also his vulnerability and uncertainty resulting in an acknowledgement of the importance of the role of men as sensitive individuals.

Children seldom dare to live a happier or more fulfilling life than their parents. Unconsciously they remain loyal to unspoken family traditions that work invisibly. Family Constellations are a way of discovering underlying family bonds and forces that have been carried unconsciously over several generations. Bertold Ulsamer  Systemic Family Constellations.

The project aims to bring Dads, who may feel misunderstood and isolated, into a world of conversation and communication.

More broadly, the project will explore the theme of fatherhood from different perspectives.

The longer term aim is to roll the project out across East Kent and build up to a festival in 3 years time where all the participants collected along the way will use their individual skills to make this happen.

The project is delivered by Dover Arts Development (DAD) & The Jasmin Vardimon Company.

The Jasmin Vardimon Company was founded in London in 1997 and rapidly rose to become a significant element within the British dance theatre scene. The company is dedicated to the choreography of Artistic Director, Jasmin Vardimon – Associate Artist of Sadler’s Wells since 2006. In 2012, the company moved into its new creative home – The Jasmin Vardimon Production Space in Ashford, Kent. This is the first time that DAD and the Jasmin Vardimon company have worked together.
