Bridges y Puentes
Bridges y Puentes, created by The Ragroof Players, created a vibrant and engaging show about migration and the search for home, using a multiplicity of languages: spoken, sung, played, and danced in the Charlton Centre car park in Dover.
This promenade show performed by six actor-dancers, invited the audience to come on a journey and to step inside many different pairs of shoes. check out their video from the project
There were 4 performances and the engagement witnessed in the Charlton car park between Dover residents and the players was real, connections were really made.
The use of the car park for this piece reawakened the huge potential this car park has as a cultural asset for Dover. The company were able to link the car park with Jo’s real cafe in the Charlton Centre before and after the performance where participants continued chatting, continuing the journey that began in the performance.
Many congratulations to the Ragroof Players, a great achievement that Dover Arts Development is delighted to have been able to support and we hope the players will be able to build on in the future.
Bridges y Puentes is supported by Arts Council England, Big Lottery, Awards for All, Heritage Lottery, Dover Big Local, Dover Arts Development, Kent County Council and made in association with Freedom Festival Hull and Theatre Royal Stratford East.
