Kearsney Interpreted

In the last couple of months artist Lisa Derand has been visiting Kearsney Abbey to meet people who frequent the park and take their photographs.
Lisa, who is the 1st recipient of DAD’s new UCA graduate award, has been doing this as part of Dover District Council’s Art in the Park – Kearsney Interpreted project delivered together with Dover Arts Development.
In early spring 2019 there will be an exhibition in the park of a selection of her photographs. Some examples of her photographs can be viewed in the click through gallery of this update.
“I enjoy a lot working in the Kearsney parks. The best were the people I met. They were very  friendly and always showed interest in the project and were always ready to participate. Each of them had an interesting story to tell. Often, I would spend few minutes taking the photographs and much longer actually talking to them. All the people I have met, gave me the impression that they simply love and feel connected to the parks, and I hope my project manages to convey the simplicity and warmth I felt in Kearsney. I wish to thank all the people who participated in the project, it has been a great experience.” Lisa Derand
